Mode Vicious Venom

9 Nov

First thing to knock off the To-Post-On-The-Blog list is a polish I bought very recently. On Tuesday in fact! I went to visit my lovely MaSucree for lunch on Tuesday (and also to get some books from the library), and we ended up doing the usual shop-trawling to see if anything interesting was around. I ended up buying some Cranberry Joy hand cream from the Body Shop *dribble*, and then when we stopped in at the pharmacy we always stalk I remembered that Lani had shown a photo of a green glitter Mode polish on her Facebook page. I’ve been obsessed with Christmas polish lately and green glitter is PERFECT for Christmas, so I checked to see if they had it… and they did!

This is the AMAZING Mode Vicious Venom, with a sparse coat of China Glaze Golden Enchantment over top to give it a slightly more Christmassy golden holo sparkle. But trust me, Vicious Venom did not really need it!

I’ve got quite a collection of Mode polishes, and have done for quite a while. But I had always passed this one over at the store because in the bottle it looks like it won’t actually be opaque. Boy oh boy was I wrong! Two easy coats for absolute perfection!!!

While I do really love the colour green, I’ve always gravitated towards blues more. MaSu has always been the green polish fiend! But more recently I’ve found myself more and more attracted to greens, possibly because of the current Christmas polish obsession. And FLIP am I glad I picked this up! (Thanks Lani!)

I mean look at that. Just look at it. How could anybody NOT fall in love with that?! I’m completely obsessed with it now, and I think that next week when I pop into town for lunch with MaSu, I’ll be picking up another bottle. Because it’s that beautiful and I see myself using it that often. I have so much polish that I generally never need back ups (except of my black and white Kleancolors that I use most for stamping). So this is a HUGE deal. That is how much I adore this polish.

For serious, if you’re any kind of green, glitter, or Christmas polish fan, you NEED this polish. I don’t know where you can buy it online, but if you’re in New Zealand or Australia they are generally available in pharmacies. I bought this one from Unichem on Queen St (just up from Farmers), but I’ve seen Mode in other pharmacies as well. PLUS they’re only $4.50 NZD. ULTIMATE WIN.

My friend Holly tells me that they’re generally around $2.50 AUD in Australia, and she recalls seeing Mode in Price Line and other pharmacies.

Seriously I can’t stop staring at it. All my other Mode bottles are tucked away in my polish chest, but Vicious Venom gets a place of honour on my desk among my China Glazes and other special polishes.

*swoon*

What do you guys think? Got a hankering now? 😀

Pst… Prepare for more Christmassy glitter tomorrow… Deal with it 😉

31 Day Nail Challenge: Day 15

15 Oct

Phew, practically halfway through! Even though I paint my nails every day anyway, it has been really exhausting working to specific guidelines >_<

Anyway, today is “delicate print” and I wanted something simple where I didn’t have to mix or deal with paint. So I went with a stamp!

I’m a bit meh about these photos, but the weather has just been stupid and not-friendly at all! I think I need to get a white light for my desk lamp, instead of the ridonk yellow light that’s in there now.

Base is China Glaze Unpredictable, stamped with Kleancolor Black and plate BM-312.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow, the challenge is tribal nails! Another one I’ve never done before 😀

31 Day Nail Challenge: Day 10

10 Oct

Yay Day 10! So far I’ve managed to keep on top of it, woop woop.

After yesterday’s laborious task of rainbows, I wanted something quick and comfortable today for gradients. So I went with my tried and true sponging technique, which is different to the other gradient sponging techniques out there. Mine doesn’t really create a true gradient, but I love it. It’s a little bit different, just like me 😉

This is China Glaze Starboard, with Revlon Copper Penny. I went for the green because it was on my desk staring me in the face, and I always seem to wear blues (when I’m not rocking the nudes). When I do blue gradients, I tend to have gold or silver tips, and my poor little bottle of Copper Penny was all, “Pick me! Pick me!” at me. So I caved. I actually really love this combo, and hey, copper coins go green over time right?!

So it was totally inspired and planned out. Not randomly decided by what was on my desk. No no, that’s crazy talk!

Del’s 31 Day Nail Challenge: Day 4

4 Oct

Today’s nails are green! I don’t know if you’ll get bored of seeing China Glaze, but they’re my favourites and I never swatched many of them. So I’m sharing! Things will get more interesting when we get past the plain “colour” days. Promise!

*drool* This is two coats of China Glaze Glittering Garland. Excuse the bump on the ring finger, I didn’t notice it until I looked at the photos! Oops.

Can you guys tell I love me some shimmer?

MaSucree’s First Ever Sinful Colors Haul and Swatches

24 Apr

Good Morning Darlings!

I am home sick again from work 😦 Ho Hum. I thought what ever I had was gone but it has come round for a second go and it looks as though I might have dragged Gabby down with me too. So we’re both home today attempting to take it easy. The small bright side is that now that I have my new computer (that’s right the Mr Gabby surprised me Sunday after work with building me a computer out or his old new parts) I can get onto sharing some of my new swatches with you.

Even though you have had nothing but nail polish for the last couple of days I thought I would share with you my Sinful Colors. I go on about how awful it is to find anything in NZ make up and nail polish wide and that goes the same for Sinful Colors. I see all these awesome blogs out there with swatches and it just makes me want them even more. However finally when I went to Dressmart with Mama (Dressmart is like a factory outlet mall for big name stores here in Auckland) I found a chemist with a big bin of Sinful Colors. The choices were limited but I was impressed that I managed to get out some really awesome ones.

CR Nail Polish Swatches

1 Mar

Before I got into nail polish in a big way I was a bit of a nail polish snob. I would never have thought about buying nail polish from a dollar or discount store. First of all the displays were lacking and they always tucked away some where that you couldn’t see the colours too well.

Once I discovered KleanColor which is a very inexpensive brand but with amazing quality, I went on a mission to try other cheap brands. Because surely if there was one amazing brand hiding in the teeny bopper infested discount stores there would be more.

The brand that I have most recently discovered is CR polishes or Care Romeis Beauty. CR doesn’t seem to have a website that I can find and nor do they seem to have a big following online. However I am pleasantly surprised at the range of colours that are available. So far I have found them in random discount/variety stores out West Auckland. My biggest haul coming from A-Z in Henderson Mall.  Each well sized bottle is $2.00 NZD and the Henderson store has amazing colours.

So take a look at the colours I picked up last month, warning there are a tonne of pictures.
