Australis Nail Colour Swatches

7 Mar

Ooooookay I know that the only thing you guys really want is nail polish >_< So I’m giving in! Today I’m showing you my small-but-slowly-growing collection of Australis nail polishes. Those of you in New Zealand and Australia will likely be familiar with the brand, as it’s Australian and very easy to get here in NZ (check any Farmers or pharmacy). Since they average around $13 NZD, my collection is still quite small. I’m currently at 6 bottles (mostly purchased during sales). So let’s begin!

Let’s start with the three cremes I have:

L-R: Rub-a-dub-dub, Peek-a-boo, and Sweetpea

Rub-a-dub-dub

This one is much nicer IRL, it’s not as washed out as this lighting makes it look! It’s a delicious pastel banana-milk colour (yum!). This is two coats, no top coat, and it’s opaque and streak-free.

Peek-a-boo

This one is one of my favourites, I had been trying for AGES to find the perfect pastel purple creme. All the other ones I tried just didn’t cut it! It’s not quite as blue IRL (again, crappy lighting and a very cheap camera), but you can get a feel for how lovely it is. This one is also two coats, no top coat. Opaque and streak-free, holla!

Sweetpea

Minty green deliciousness ❀ No matter what I did I couldn’t make my fingers less red! Stupid camera focus and settings *shakes fist* Same deal as the others, two coats with no top coat. I love how shiny the cremes dry, even without a top coat~

On to the not-cremes!

L-R: Satin Champagne, Foil Spoil, and Speck-tacular

Satin Champagne

Lovely pinky-beige pearl that is oh-so-lovely and girly for work. This is one of my go-to’s when I’m running late for work! It’s more sheer than the cremes, but I think that’s part of its charm. It adds to the soft sweet effect. Two coats, no top coat πŸ™‚

Foil Spoil

At first glance this one seems to be a simple silver foil, however it actually has gold specks in it too! The way my bottle was sitting in my polish case has made a lot of the gold specks gather on the side of the bottle so you can actually see them πŸ™‚ I think the gold flecks give the silver colour more depth and uniqueness, I really love this one for going out! Two coats, no top coat. Second coat is unnecessary, it’s completely opaque at one. True foil πŸ™‚

Speck-tacular

And last but not least, the new and (as far as I know) limited Crystal Colour top coat! Flakies of course… I picked this one up even though I have Essie Shine of the Times (which I still haven’t shown you, oops!), because it’s quite different to the Essie flakie. The flakies aren’t as dense as SotT, and they’re a bit bigger too. I’ve swatched it over three darker colours so you can see the iridescence better. On my index is two coats of Speck-tacular with no base, middle finger is two coats of Speck-tacular over Jordana Sapphire, ring finger is one coat of Speck-tacular over Jordana Mardi Gras, and my pinkie is one coat of Speck-tacular over Santee Black. My favourite combo is Mardi Gras :3

One thing I have to say about Australis nail polishes is that I am JUST as impressed with their quality as I am by their neat colours. I have been using their makeup for years but had never ventured to try their polishes until I came across Rub-a-dub-dub in the sale bins at Farmers, and then I spotted Peek-a-boo when I was on my pastel purple quest. I was so impressed with their pigmentation and lasting power that I caved and bought more. So don’t assume that because they aren’t well-known brands (*cough* OPI and China Glaze *cough*) they aren’t good quality. Because they are EXCELLENT quality!

I’ve even made a list of other colours I want, and you can be sure that if I cave and buy them, you’ll be seeing more of Australis polishes!

Hope you guys are having a good week~

-Del xx

P.S. Next time you hear from me I’ll be showing off some Jordana Glitter polishes Β – squee! I’ve got five coming your way xx

You know that pink-ish nude colour I’ve been searching for like every time we wander down Queen Street? THAT IS IT RIGHT THERE SATIN CHAMPAGNE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE.
I really like the foil one too and the speckly one is funky. Can you buy Jordana Mardi Gras from stores or is it only online? (Sorry if this shows I haven’t been properly paying attention in the past =P)
Payday tomorrow thank God. Time for some shopping.

Haha yeah Satin Champagne is gorgeous. I got it on a whim when I was picking up the foil and the flakie, they had a buy two get one free deal and that one stood out to me πŸ™‚ Definitely an excellent impulse buy! If you’re really hankering for it, they should stock it at Farmers for around $13. I got mine at the St Lukes branch.
As for the Jordana, I bought that one in a store in Manukau, but I know that MaSucree has that shade too and she bought it out west somewhere. Probably New Lynn. They stock Jordana at 2 Cheap stores, and sometimes other dollar stores too. They all seem to stock different colours though so you might wanna try find that shade soon πŸ™‚
      Have fun shopping!!
