Wooooooo a string of awesomeness! I got two packages yesterday, one from Llarowe containing some UP Colors holographics and another from Ninja Polish containing two gold flake top coats! Woooooooooooo!!!!!!!
L-R: Verde 360 ; Azul Disco
I’ve already tried Verde, and I love it! The holographic effect isn’t as strong as others I’ve tried, but it has a beautiful sparkle in the sun
L-R: The Midas Touch ; He Went to Jarred
OMG SO IN LOVE. Not only is The Midas Touch cheaper than the “high-end” alternatives available, it’s also higher quality at 24k gold flakes (as opposed to the 18k I’ve seen). The white gold top coat (which everyone has been clamouring for!) is 12k. Super love love!!!
So of course I had to try one of them out! I went with gold because I’m still on my Christmas nails kick. This is The Midas Touch over OPI You Only Live Twice.
*swoon* I’ll be keeping this on for a few days
What do you guys think? Keen to pick up any gold flake top coats? The Ninja Polish ones are only $15USD a pop! They’re currently out of stock but you can sign up for stock notifications, which is how I got my bottles. Check them out here.
I’m looking forward to The Husband’s work Christmas do tomorrow night, we’re going to a super fancy restaurant and get free food and drinks
These are from a couple of days ago Since the challenge ended I’ve been enjoying just having my nails one colour, or playing with simple layering combos. Aaaaand since we ticked over to November I’ve become pretty excitable about Christmas nails, and started playing with the few Christmas-themed polishes I have.
Christmas = glitter!
And also frosty blue?
It’s kind of a quirky combo, the metallic blue with the red, green and gold glitter. I think that’s why I love it so much!
This was two coats of Kleancolor Ocean Wave, with one coat of China Glaze Twinkle Lights over top :3
I can’t wait for my order from Head2Toe to arrive! I ordered 6 of the 7 glitters from the Holiday Joy collection, and a red creme. Just cause. CHRISTMAS GLITTERS!!! I’ll be getting the rest of the collection next time for sure Because, Christmas collection.
Wow just one more day to go! I’m pretty glad, because as you’ll see today, my poor poor hands are getting pretty beaten-up. I’m not sure if it’s the challenge, extra housework, or an overly zealous bitey-kitten; it doesn’t matter. All I know is that they’re getting worse and worse every day >_<
Today’s challenge was ‘inspired by a tutorial’, so I went back to the first nail-arty thing I came across online that actually made me curious about nail art (as opposed to straight nail polish). It was a picture I saw on Tumblr, by the marvellous Nailside. She has quite a few tutorials on her site, as well as heaps of other designs, but I wanted to stick with the original one – her freehand cloud design!
Here is my not-so-perfect rendition.
The brushes on the polishes I chose weren’t really the best shape for this design, because they were quite flat. However, now that I know how truly easy this is, I won’t hesitate to try it again with round-brushed polishes :3
I used three “Cairuo” polishes. I suspect these are just re-branded CR (or Care Romeis) polishes, as the symbol and ingredients are exactly the same. But these bottles are a thousand million times cuter, so I was sucked in. And hey, at only $2 each, you can’t argue. The colours are #34 (dark brown), #16 (sky blue), and #33 (the lighter taupe and my favourite).
I plan on returning to the store where I found these, and getting heaps more.
Pst… See how beat-up my fingers are getting?
Squee! Getting so close to the end!
Today’s challenge is ‘inspired by a flag’. Now I dunno about other polish fiends, but since the Olympics resulted in an outright explosion of flag-and-other-patriotic manis, I became a little bit sick of them. I wanted to do something a little different, and as MaSucree said, “A lot more unique!” than a lot of the other flag manis out there.
I decided to spell out ‘flag’ in nautical signal flags!
I did it for the lulz ^_^
I really love the ‘L’ and am keen to do checkered nails again! The ‘F’ was a complete nightmare though. Signal flags are square, so trying to do the diamond really didn’t translate so well >_<
Polishes used were:
- China Glaze Hey Sailor (red)
- China Glaze First Mate (blue)
- China Glaze Liquid Leather (black)
- Santee Beach Yellow
- Jordana White / Jordana Pop Art Contemporary White
I still think this was a fun one to do, and I’m happy that I came up with something a little different I got the inspiration from another Studio Ghibli film, Kokuriko-zaka Kara, or From Up on Poppy Hill. The main character raises signal flags every morning in memory of her father.
Oh gosh I feel all out of whack because I’m not at home D: It even feels wrong painting my nails not-at-my-desk. And accordingly, these did not go to plan >_<
Anyway, today is the start of the ‘inspired by…’ part of the challenge, and the first one is ‘inspired by a colour’. Huh? Like what does that even mean? After much thinking and hmming and haaing, I decided to take the NAME of a polish and go with that. One of my favourite polishes-I-always-grab-for-and-always-love is China Glaze’s Electric Beat. I thought about doing something crazy and intense like a glitter lightning bolt with CG Electrify, but then I remembered that I wouldn’t be home. So I went for something simpler.
This is two coats of Electric Beat as base, with stamping using Kleancolor Metallic Sapphire and plate BM-305 for the lightning design. I really like this mani, it’s totally cute I was a bit annoyed that my trusty top-coat managed to smear the lines a bit, but I think that’s a problem more with the stamping polish than the top coat. But not-so-close-up, these nails look awesomesauce.
I’m just sad about how weird everything feels when I’m not at home to nail it up. Plus the weather today is shocking and therefore so are my photos! My camera throws a fit when I try to macro with indoors lighting.
Anyway, what do ya’ll think? Rockin’ it? Also how would you have interpreted the ‘inspired by a colour’ instructions?
Yay I’m quite happy with today’s offering! The challenge, as mentioned yesterday, was tribal print. Most of my problems with nail art lies in the detailing, so I was sort of dreading tribal print! However, I pulled out my supplies and got stuck in.
I used China Glaze For Audrey as the base colour, then a strip of I Herd That down one side, just because it’s such a gorgeous glitter >_< Then all I did was make lines and dots with black and white acrylic paint!
I liked them so much I continued taking photos even after I had that first one. Teehee!
Tomorrow’s challenge is glitter… What to do, what to do?
Today is blue! Another simple China Glaze for ya’ll ^_^
3 coats China Glaze Dorothy Who? Super love love! <3
This polish is just so damn pretty!
I hope you have all been looking after yourselves!
Today’s post is going to be about some of my shoes
I get a little touchy when people ask me how many pairs of shoes I have, first off it’s usually people who I don’t know well and second I don’t actually know cause I think it is rude to count. However today there was some rearranging going on and I decided that I finally would count them all. Delindel and I are going to be the only ones privy to that information. HOWEVER out came an idea from the lovely Rebecca ( a reader and friend of Del’s) that I should do a post about some of my favourite shoes.
So I have picked 8 pair of shoes, some of them new and some of them older pairs to show to you.
Before I got into nail polish in a big way I was a bit of a nail polish snob. I would never have thought about buying nail polish from a dollar or discount store. First of all the displays were lacking and they always tucked away some where that you couldn’t see the colours too well.
Once I discovered KleanColor which is a very inexpensive brand but with amazing quality, I went on a mission to try other cheap brands. Because surely if there was one amazing brand hiding in the teeny bopper infested discount stores there would be more.
The brand that I have most recently discovered is CR polishes or Care Romeis Beauty. CR doesn’t seem to have a website that I can find and nor do they seem to have a big following online. However I am pleasantly surprised at the range of colours that are available. So far I have found them in random discount/variety stores out West Auckland. My biggest haul coming from A-Z in Henderson Mall. Each well sized bottle is $2.00 NZD and the Henderson store has amazing colours.
So take a look at the colours I picked up last month, warning there are a tonne of pictures.
Hello Lovely Readers!
Gabby is home! Yaaay!
As promised here is the swatches for my latest haul of KleanColor Swatches. I am so pleased with the colours I have brought.
Now less talk and onto the photos!
